The highly experienced stopper back started his football journey in the local Srirampur league at the age of 15. The no nonsense defender has represented Bengal at the under-19 and under-21 levels and Santosh Trophy. After playing for Aryans and Wari in the Kolkata league, he was picked up by Chirag United in 2008.

The Deepak Mandal and John Terry fan left a salaried job at South Eastern Railway to join Mohun Bagan as a professional player in 2010. He has in fact played for three of the Big Four in Kolkata and has two stints at the Mariners’ camp, being recalled in 2013. Last season, despite being challenged by a phalanx of top defensive talents, he was able to cement his place in the back four and enjoyed 20 out of 24 starts in the I-League.
