King Saud Medical Complex

King Saud Medical City (KSMC) is a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is a tertiary care center for medicine and surgery especially Trauma surgery, Orthopedic and Neurosurgery . It is an international recognized center for training in medicine and surgery. It has 1500 beds of which 180 beds are in the intensive-care unit beds. By virtue of the bed capacity and patient load, KSMC is by far the largest hospital of Saudi Arabia.

Description

The Emergency Department of KSMC is one of the busiest in the Kingdom. Since January 2016, a dedicated trauma unit is managing all polytrauma cases which have been brought directly or referred to KSMC for further management from all over the Kingdom. In April 2019, the Trauma Surgery department was upgraded to the Trauma Center. Dr. Sharfuddin Chowdhury, a South African Trained Trauma Surgeon, was appointed as the first Director of this Center. Under his leadership, the KSMC Trauma Center is shaping itself as an internationally accredited Level 1 Trauma Center. The center is managing all complex head, face, chest, abdomen, pelvis, orthopedic, and spinal injuries. Since September 2017, the KSMC Trauma Registry recruited over 6000 patients. Besides state of the art Trauma Service, the Center also runs undergraduate, postgraduate, fellowship training, and Trauma research.
