Keith W. Ross

Keith W. Ross is an American scholar who has done research in Markov decision processes, queuing theory, computer networks, peer-to-peer networks, Internet privacy, social networks, and deep reinforcement learning. He is the Dean of Engineering and Computer Science at NYU Shanghai and a computer science professor at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering.[1]

Career

Ross received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tufts University in electrical engineering.[1] He earned his Ph.D. in computer, information, and control engineering from the University of Michigan.[1] From 1985 until 1998 he served as a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.[1] In 1995, Ross authored the research monograph Multiservice Loss Models for Broadband Communication Networks.[2] In 1998, Ross joined the multimedia communication department at Eurecom Institute. He co-founded Wimba.com, an Internet technology firm which develops Java-based voice-over-IP technologies for online education markets, in 1999.[1] In 2000, he co-authored the textbook Computer Networking: A Top Down Approach.[3] Ross was named a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He is also a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).[4]
