Kaurilands

Kaurilands is an Auckland suburb, which is under the local governance of Auckland Council. The area has been called Kaurilands since at least 1925,[1] with lots for sale from 1926.[2]

Kaurilands had a population of 3,177 at the 2018 New Zealand census, an increase of 126 people (4.1%) since the 2013 census, and an increase of 207 people (7.0%) since the 2006 census. There were 1,041 households. There were 1,548 males and 1,629 females, giving a sex ratio of 0.95 males per female. The median age was 37.9 years, with 729 people (22.9%) aged under 15 years, 531 (16.7%) aged 15 to 29, 1,590 (50.0%) aged 30 to 64, and 324 (10.2%) aged 65 or older.

Ethnicities were 82.3% European/Pākehā, 11.6% Māori, 6.0% Pacific peoples, 12.2% Asian, and 3.3% other ethnicities (totals add to more than 100% since people could identify with multiple ethnicities).

The proportion of people born overseas was 27.8%, compared with 27.1% nationally.

Although some people objected to giving their religion, 61.2% had no religion, 25.6% were Christian, and 7.3% had other religions.

Of those at least 15 years old, 843 (34.4%) people had a bachelor or higher degree, and 276 (11.3%) people had no formal qualifications. The median income was $43,100. The employment status of those at least 15 was that 1,359 (55.5%) people were employed full-time, 393 (16.1%) were part-time, and 66 (2.7%) were unemployed.[3]

Education

Glen Eden Intermediate School is a school for years 7–8 with a roll of 1048 students.[4]

Kaurilands School is a contributing primary school (years 1–6), with a roll of 743 students.[5] The school was founded in 1955.[6]

Both schools are coeducational. Rolls are as of March 2020.[7]
