Jude Patrick Dougherty

Jude Patrick Dougherty (born July 21, 1930) is an American philosopher and Dean Emeritus of the School of Philosophy at the Catholic University of America.

Biography

Jude was born in Cook County, Illinois to Edward Timothy Dougherty and Cecelia Anastasia Loew.[1] He is married to Patricia Ann Regan. [2] In 1960, Dougherty received his PhD in philosophy from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He returned in 1966 to CUA as professor and dean of the School of Philosophy.[3]

December 1971 marked the beginning of Dougherty's 44-year tenure as editor-in-chief of The Review of Metaphysics.[4]

Dougherty is an emeritus member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas.[5]

In 2005 upon his passing, Dougherty discussed the legacy of Pope John Paul II on CNN's Larry King Live[8], Fox News Channel, BBC World television, WJLA-TV and was interviewed by the Washington Post, Newhouse News Service, Scripps Howard News Service, Knight Ridder Tribune News Service Voice of America radio, the Washington Blade, the Sunday Bulletin and the Fresno Bee.[9]
