Joslyn Rose Lyons is an American director, filmmaker, and producer.

Early life

She began college at California College of the Arts where she studied visual arts and finished her degree at University of California, Berkeley in Film Theory.

Film career

Joslyn made her directorial debut with the Hip Hop documentary "Soundz of Spirit" (Common (rapper), André 3000, CeeLo Green, Saul Williams). The documentary premiered at the HBO Urban World Film Festival, winning Best Music Documentary at the New York International and was an Official Jury Selection at London Raindance, Black International Cinema Berlin, and Los Angeles International.[1]

Joslyn went on to direct content for "Def Poetry with HBO and Simmons Lathan Media Group. She has produced content for BET, Centric, Vh1 Soul, MTV, and has contributed to documentaries for Oprah Winfrey Network, PBS and Discovery.[2]

In 2015 she directed a video for Chad Hugo's (N.E.R.D., Neptunes) The Quarry's single "Frozen Hearts".[3]

Joslyn has directed music videos for Mali Music, Talib Kweli, Too $hort,[4] E-40, Shafiq Husayn (SA-RA) and Quadron.

She produced the First Music Matters Grammy Edition Showcase at the Creative Artists Agency and is the creator and co-curator for the multi-faceted Museum of Light (The Grammy Museum, LINES Ballet, Motown Music, V. Bozeman, Michelle Williams, Angie Stone, Pharoahe Monch, Rafael Casal, Daveed Diggs, Robert Glasper.)

Joslyn produced the 2017 BET Experience: Celebrity Basketball Game with Nick Cannon, Chris Brown, The Game, Angela Yee, Fat Joe, Big Boy, Flex Alexander, among others. She is the producer of "Tale of the Tape" (History of the mixtape in Hip Hop) with Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, J. Cole, Joe Biden, Wiz Khalifa among others.
