Joseph Aidoo

Joseph Boahen Aidoo is a Ghanaian politician who served as a Member of Parliament for the Amenfi East constituency in the Western Region.[1][2]

Early Life and Education

He was born on 4 August 1958[3] in Sefwi Ewiase in the Western region of Ghana. He has his Teacher's Certificate 'A' in 1981 and his Bachelor in Public Administration from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.[1]

Career

He is an Educationist.[3] He was the District Chief Executive for Sefwi Ewiase in the Western region from 1997 to 2000.[3] He was also the Assistant Director at Ghana Education Service.[1] In 2020, he worked as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board.[4] He was also the former Western Regional Minister.[5][6]

Politics

He is a member of New Patriotic Party.[7] He was the member of parliament for Amenfi East constituency in the Western region of Ghana for the 5th parliament of the 4th republic of Ghana.[1][8] He was elected with 18,576 votes out of 35,832total valid voted cast on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.[9] He was elected over Akwasi Opong Fosu of the National Democratic Congress and Samuel Yaw Obeng-Damoah of the Convention People's Party.[9] These obtained 45.33% and 2.83% respectively of total valid votes cast.[9] He was appointed as Minister of State for the Western Region.[5]

Personal Life

He is married with five children.[3] He is a Christian as a Catholic.[1]
