Jill Gallard

Jill Gallard CMG [1] is a British diplomat who since 2018 has been Deputy Political Director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.[2] Previously she was the British Ambassador to Portugal and Director of Human Resources at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. In November 2020 she will take up the post of British Ambassador to Germany.[3]

Career

Gallard gained a MA degree in French and Spanish from the University of Edinburgh, then joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1991. She has served at Madrid and Prague and in various posts at the FCO.[1] She was ambassador to the Portuguese Republic 2011–14[4] and Director of Human Resources at the FCO 2014–18.[2]

Gallard was appointed CMG in the 2018 Birthday Honours.[5]
