Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Barabanki[3] (JNV BBK) is a boarding school near Sonikpur, Barabanki, India.[4] JNV BBK is funded by the Indian Ministry of Human Resources Development.[5]

History

The school was established in 1992 in the campus of Jahangeerabad, Barabanki by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti,[6] an autonomous body that comes under the Indian Ministry of Human Resource and Development New Delhi. Navodaya Vidyalaya was the dream child of late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the ex-prime minister of India. The school shifted to its own 30 acre[7] campus in rural area of Sonikpur in 1998.[8][9]

The founder HRD Minister Shri Arjun Singh formatted the school in such a way that it continues to be the Jewel of Barabanki district.

Campus[10]

The school stands on a 30 acre[11] campus near Sonikpur village and very near to Town Haidergarh. The west side of campus has greenery area. The campus has several buildings, the administration block, main class room buildings, laboratory building, workshops, teachers' quarters, students' dormitories, principal's house, guest house, common mess, sports ground, power house, and water tank.

Alumni association[13]

An alumni association is functioning effectively in the Vidyalaya since 2010 with a view to record the 'Social Values' ex-Navodians have achieved.

First alumni was organized by Ex-Principal Hon. S. Ram (Retd. Ex-Deputy Commissioner, Patna, Bihar & Ex-Assistant Commissioner Jaipur, Rajasthan), PET Sir N.K. Singh, with EX-Students Team: Mr.Surya Prakash Verma, Mr.Ashutosh Mishra, Mr.Hari Kishan Singh, Mr.Shashi Rai, Mr.Harish, Mr.Surya Kiran Jaiswal,Mr.Lavkush Kanaujia, etc.[14]

Now, Alumni association also runs by Mr.Sitaram(State bank of india,lucknow), Mr.Rishi Verma(chartered accountant, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India),Mr.Sankalp Maurya,Mr.Ashok Kumar,Mr.Navneet Mishra(M.B.B.S.),Mr.Ankur Verma(Work at Indian Space Research Organisation),Mr.Piyush jaiswal(school teacher),Mr.Rajeev Ranjan(Mine engineer),Mr. Neeraj Kushwaha(works at Indian railway),Mr.Ankit Singh,Mr.Jitendra Singh,Mr.Surya Prakash,Mr.Kapil,Mr.Rajeev Kumar,Dr.Sandeep Singh,Mr.Santosh etc under the direction of honourable principal of Jawahar navodaya vidyalaya.

First Sunday of December every year the Alumni Meet is conducted in the Vidyalaya.
