Jan Żaryn

Jan Krzysztof Żaryn (born 1958) is a Polish historian and politician.

Son of architect Stanisław Żaryn.

Historian

He graduated from the University of Warsaw in 1984. In 2004 he received his PhD. In 2013 he received the title of professor.

From 1997 to 2006 he worked at the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences. From 2000 he worked at the Institute of National Remembrance. From 2003 he lectured at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and from 2003 to 2006 at the University of Warsaw.[1][2]

Politician

He was a member of the democratic anti-communist opposition in his youth. He was an unsuccessful candidate for parliament in 1993. In 2011 he was an unsuccessful candidate to the Senate, from the Law and Justice Party. He was elected to the Senate following the 2015 election.[3]

Awards

He received the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2009.[4]
