James A. Gallagher

James A. Gallagher (January 16, 1869 – December 8, 1957) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.[1][2]

Formative years

James A. Gallagher was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 16, 1869. He attended the public schools and Philadelphia's Pierce Business College (1891-1893). Professionally, he began work in merchandise warehousing and transportation in 1886, and was also employed in the banking industry.[3][4]

Political career

Gallagher was elected to congress as a Republican in 1942. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1944, he was elected to congress again in 1946. He was then also an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1948.[5][6]

Death and interment

Following his death in Philadelphia on December 8, 1957, he was interred at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, Pennsylvania.[7][8]
