Playing career

After playing one year of High School Ice Hockey at the Taft School and one year of Junior Ice Hockey for the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League, Downing played four years of Collegiate Ice Hockey for the University of Vermont.[2][3]

On August 26, 2011, the Binghamton Senators announced they had signed Downing to a one-year, two-way American Hockey League contract.[3] Over the next three seasons, Downing would play in the American Hockey League for the Senators, Providence Bruins, and Iowa Wild, and in the ECHL for the Elmira Jackals and South Carolina Stingrays.[1]

On September 11, 2014, the Stingrays re-signed Downing for the 2014-15 season.[4] On November 24, 2014, the Stingrays traded Downing to the Missouri Mavericks of the ECHL in exchange for Brandon Hynes and Guy Leboeuf.[5] After 43 games with the Mavericks, Downing was traded for a second time within the year, acquired by the Cincinnati Cyclones in exchange for Brian Nugent, Lee Reimer and future considerations on March 12, 2015.[6]

On June 10, 2016, Downing left for abroad as a free agent to sign a one-year deal with German club, EC Kassel Huskies, of the DEL2.[7]

gollark: But if they go to Microsoft, which contains thousands of "random dude[s]", that's okay?
