Club career

Born in Campillo de Arenas, Jaén, Andalusia,[1] Sánchez graduated from Real Jaén's youth setup, and made his senior debut with the reserves. He was promoted to the first team the following year, appearing regularly for them in Segunda División B.

On 14 July 2011, Sánchez signed a three-year deal with Atlético Madrid, being assigned to the B-side also in the third level.[2] In July 2012, he was called up by manager Diego Simeone to make the pre-season with the former,[3] and was also an ever-present figure for the latter in 2013–14 as they narrowly avoided relegation.

Sánchez joined fellow reserve team UD Almería B in the same division on 13 June 2014, after agreeing to a three-year contract.[4] His maiden competitive appearance with the first team occurred on 5 December, when he started in a 4–3 away win against Real Betis for the campaign's Copa del Rey.[5]

On 14 June 2015, Sánchez was definitely promoted to the main squad now in Segunda División.[6] He made his debut in the competition on 6 September, coming on as a second-half substitute for Quique González in a 2–1 home win over CA Osasuna.[7]

On 18 January 2017, after being sparingly used during the first half of the season, Sánchez was loaned to division three club Albacete Balompié until June.[8] On 28 June, after helping to win promotion, he joined on a permanent basis,[9] but was loaned to Elche CF also from the third tier on 4 August.[10]

On 26 June 2018, after playing a key role in Elche's promotion back to the second division, Sánchez signed a permanent two-year deal with the club on a free transfer.[11]
