Ishwarganj Bisweswari Pilot High School

Ishwarganj Bisweswari Government Pilot High School (Bengali: ঈশ্বরগঞ্জ বিশ্বেশ্বরী সরকারী পাইলট উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়)[3] is a secondary school in Ishwarganj Upazila, Mymensingh District, Bangladesh.[4] It was founded in 1916[5] by Kishore Roy Chowdhury. There are approximately 1,500 students currently enrolled. The school has a tradition of excellency more than 100 years. It is one of the most famous and prestigious schools of Ishwarganj Upazilla as well as in the district of Mymensingh.

Admission

Generally, admission is permitted in class six once a year. There is no eligibility criteria to sit the admission test. Students who perform well in the test are usually admitted.

Campus

The school is very royal in look with a feeling of tradition. It has two main academic building. One is four storeyed and other is two storeyed. It has a big playground where students play and enjoy games at afternoon. The school building is very attached to a beautiful small river Kanchamatia as like one can see the river flowing through the window of a two storeyed academic building. This scenery is awesome just one can fell the natural beauty of Bangladesh seeing this. On the other side of the school there is big pond like lake, local people call it Muktijoddha Pukur. This urban scenery is pretty good.

Educational facilities and miscellaneous

The school has many educational facilities including a science laboratory, a workshop, a computer lab, and a library. Physics, chemistry, and biology lessons are normally conducted in the science laboratory. The laboratories are very enriched. The physics lab contains different kinds of scientific equipment including simple pendulum, internal combustion engine model, calorimeter etc. The chemistry lab contains all equipment required for a secondary science education. Different kinds of chemicals also available here. Biology lab also has human skeleton, different kinds of anesthetic, different specimen of animals and plants reserved with chloroform. The school got many good and enthusiastic teacher in the field of science, arts and commerce. Notably late Abdur Razzak sir of mathematics, Ali Akbar sir, Ajit Kumar Sarkar of Bengali literature. The average GPA 5 holder from every academic batch is about 100. They take admission into country's best colleges including Notre Dame College, Viqarunnisa Noon College, Rajuk Uttara Model College, Dhaka College, Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam College-Mymensingh etc. After their college education most of them take admission into prestigious engineering universities like BUET, KUET, CUET, RUET, Dhaka University and also top medical colleges. Many alumni of it, is working around the world as engineer, scientist.

Student activities

Students are very fond of arts, culture and science. They attend a morning assembly everyday where physical exercise is performed, especially in winter season. An annual sports day is dedicated every year where different traditional game and music are performed. Some students attend to Science Olympiad, Mathematical Olympiad and consequently win prizes and recognition. There is a good tradition of arranging debate competition among students and also inter school level.

There are some former students who worked at NASA, MIT and also Russian Intelligence agency.
