The song was performed sixteenth on the night (following the Netherlands' Maggie MacNeal with "Amsterdam" and preceding Ireland's Johnny Logan with "What's Another Year?"). At the close of voting, it had received 45 points, placing 11th in a field of 19.

The song is an up-tempo number, with the group singing about the joy of "singing the night away", particularly at "the carnival". Profil also recorded an English language version of the song, entitled "Hey Music Man".

It was succeeded as French representative at the 1981 Contest by Jean Gabilou with "Humanahum".
