Guglielmo Gargiolli

Guglielmo Gargiolli (17th century) was an Italian mathematician and engineer.[1]

Iride celeste, 1655

He was the first Reader (Lettore) of mathematics at the Studio of Siena and at the court of Florence. His book, Iride Celeste (Celestial Iris), was noted for its explanation of how to estimate from a distance the height of an object and its distance from the observer.[2]
