Georgia Department of Agriculture

The Georgia Department of Agriculture is the oldest state department of agriculture in the United States of America.[1] Gary Black has served as the Department's Commissioner since January, 2011, succeeding Tommy Irvin who served as Commissioner from 1969 to 2011.

Summary

In 1874, the Georgia Department of Agriculture was established. The department regulates food, fiber, and the agricultural workforce in the state.[1] It also works to promote and protect agriculture.[2]
