Ferry Mursyidan Baldan

Ferry Mursyidan Baldan (born 16 June 1961 in Jakarta, Indonesia) is an Indonesian politician.[1] He is the former Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning in the Republic of Indonesia.[2][3] He had also served on the Special Committee for the Electoral Draft Law in the People's Representative Council.[4][5]

Personal life and education

Baldan was born on 16 June 1961 in Jakarta, Indonesia. He was born into the family of Baldan Nyak Oepin Arif and his mother is Syarifah Fatimah, they both hail from Aceh. After completing his primary and secondary education he furthered his education to the tertiary level where he attended Padjadjaran University to study Social and Political science and graduated in 1988 with a BSc in Political science.

Career

Baldan began his political career in 1992 when joined Golkar party. He was elected into People's Consultative Assembly as a member between 1992 and 1997. He was elected to represent the Bandung constituency. While serving as member of parliament he was placed in charge of Commission II of the Public Administration, Law, Police, and State Apparatus. In 1999, he was re-elected as member of parliament to run for another term. During his second term he was appointed Vice chairman of Commission II and was responsible for drafting the Regional Autonomy Law No. 22/1999.[6][7]

On 27 October 2014 Baldan was appointed Minister of the Agrarian and Spatial Planning/ Head of National Land Agency by President Joko Widodo.[8] He was appointed into the Working Cabinet and served till 27 July 2016.[9][10]

In 2018, Ferry Baldan was appointed Director of Volunteer for Prabowo Subianto campaign organization.[11][12]
