History

The University of Warsaw dates back to 1816.[3] A hundred years later, in 1917, the first School of Political Science was founded. The beginnings of the current Faculty can be sought in the Institute of Political Science, found in 1967 as part of the Department of Philosophy.[4] In 1975, the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science was established, which expanded its research area with international relations, social policy, European studies and homeland security. In 2016, research workers related to journalism left the faculty, which resulted in changing its name to its current version. Since 2019 WNPiSM has functioned in a new structure, with over 15 scientific institutes and 2 research centres.
