Elaine Aron

Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D. is a clinical, research psychologist and author[1] who has studied high sensitivity personalities since 1990. She has published six books on the subject, including The Highly Sensitive Person  which has been translated into 21 languages and sold over a million copies.[2]

Her books include: The Highly Sensitive Person 25th Anniversary Edition, The Highly Sensitive Parent, The Highly Sensitive Person Workbook, The Highly Sensitive Child, Psychotherapy and the Highly Sensitive Person: Improving Outcomes for That Minority of People Who Are the Majority of Clients, and The Undervalued Self, as well as scientific articles in the leading journals in her field. 

Aron earned her M.A. from York University in Toronto in clinical psychology and her Ph.D. at Pacifica Graduate Institute in clinical depth psychology as well as interning at the C. G. Jung Institute in San Francisco.[3] She and her husband Arthur have been married for 56 years[4]. Dr. Arthur Aron is a graduate of the University of Toronto[5] and a psychology professor. They are well known for their study of love and close relationships. She maintains a small psychotherapy practice in Mill Valley, CA.[6]

Education

Aron completed her undergraduate studies, at the University of California, Berkeley earning the Phi Beta Kappa distinction, [7] and later earned an Master of Arts (M.A.) in clinical psychology from York University and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in clinical depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute.[8] She also interned at the C. G. Jung Institute[9] in San Francisco.

Personal life

Aron is married to SUNY-Stony Brook alum psychology professor[10] Arthur Aron.[11]
