Doreen Granpeesheh

Doreen Granpeesheh (Persian: درّین گران‌پیشه‎, born in 1963) is an Iranian-American psychologist and board certified behavior analyst who works with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

In 1990, Granpeesheh founded the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD).[1]

Granpeesheh co-created Skills—an online assessment and ABA treatment guide for children with ASD and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.[2][3][4]

Early childhood and education

Granpeesheh was born in Tehran, Iran, and went to school in England and Switzerland. Her father served as an advisor to the minister of finance in Tehran. As the Islamic Revolution started to emerge, her parents decided to send her to Los Angeles, California in the United States to complete high school at the age of 15.[5]

When she was 16 years old in 1979, Granpeesheh attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she met Ivar Lovaas, Ph.D., a UCLA professor who was pioneering an early intervention to teach children with autism called discrete trial training (DTT), an intensive and structured modality derived from the science of applied behavior analysis (ABA).

Granpeesheh became Lovaas's senior supervisor at his clinic and was among Lovaas' graduate students.

In 2014, Granpeesheh published Evidence-Based Treatment for Children with Autism: The CARD Model[6] with co-editors Jonathan Tarbox, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Adel Najdowski, Ph.D.,BCBA-D, and Julie Kornack.
