Donna P. Davis

Donna P. Davis is an American physician. Davis became the first African-American woman to enter the United States Navy as a medical doctor in 1975.

Biography

Davis is a native of New York City and earned her bachelor's degree from Cornell University.[1] Davis was the recipient of the American Association Medical College Fellowship in 1972.[2] Davis graduated from Meharry Medical College in 1973.[2]

Davis became the first black woman physician to enter the United States Navy in May of 1975.[3][4] Her first tour of duty was at the Oakland Naval Hospital.[3] Davis left active duty in 1998, and remained in the Naval Reserve.[5] She opened her own practice in Yorba Linda, California.[5]
