Don't Go Away (Fun Factory song)

"Don't Go Away" is a 1996 Eurodance song by German band Fun Factory. It was released as the fourth single from their second album, Fun-Tastic and became their last chart success. The single was also the last single to be promoted by the band as a quartet, when band member Smooth T (aka Toni Cottura) left the band. The song is sung by lead singer Marie Anett Mey and it hit success in Spain, where the track peaked at number 6.[1] Additionally the single peaked at number 31 in Austria and number 37 in Germany. Outside Europe, it reached number 93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US. A music video was shot to accompany the song, directed by V. Hannwacker & M. Rosenmüller. It sees the band performing at a party on the beach.

Critical reception

Larry Flick from Billboard described the song as "a reggae-splashed ditty" and compared it to Ace of Base's 1992 hit "All That She Wants". He added that the key difference is "the use of throaty male rapping, as well as a slew of versions that tip-toe through jeep-funk and house grooves".[2]
