Cornelian dilemma
A Corneillian dilemma (dilemme cornélien) is a dilemma for someone to oblige and choose from two options, each having a detrimental effect. It involves the character experiencing an inner conflict, forcing them to choose between love with honour or desire with duty. It is introduced in Le Cid.
