Previously known as Méanscoil Feirste, the gaelscoil is located in the west of the city in a new facility on Belfast's Falls Road. Founded in 1991 with just nine pupils, today the school has more than 900 pupils and circa 50 teachers.[2]

The school was first situated in Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich and was opened under the care of the first school principal Fergus O'Hare who was replaced in 2002 by Garaí Mac Roibeaird as principal.[3] In 2010 he joined the Educational Authority on secondment and was replaced by Mícheal Mac Giolla Ghunna until 2015 when Garaí Mac Roibeaird returned. Garaí Mac Roibeaird retired in 2019 and Mícheal Mac Giolla Ghunna became principal once more. The school's uniform consists of a distinctive green blazer, jumper, and black trousers or green skirt. The school is now situated in Beechmount.

History of School Building
