Chobilal Upadhyaya

Chobilal Upadhyaya, popularly known as Chabilal Babu was a prominent leader of the Indian Freedom Movement from Assam. He was the first president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.[1] He presided the historic meeting of the Assam Association held at Jorhat on 18 April 1921 which decided to convert itself to Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.[2] He played an important role in the education of the indigenous Bengali community of Assam. He belonged to Gorkha Community.[3]
