Chicks on the Right

Amy Jo Clark and Miriam Weaver, better known together by their Chicks on the Right names Daisy and Mockarena, are American radio personalities and creators of the Chicks on the Right website.[1][2] Their tagline is, “…because conservatism needs a makeover.”

History

Before becoming a Chick on the Right, Amy Jo was a medical writer and communications consultant in the private sector for over 20 years, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Communications at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis. Miriam worked in Human Resources prior to becoming a full-time Chick on the Right, focusing on recruiting and hiring. She is the daughter of Polish immigrants, who came to the United States in 1969.

In 2013, after an explosion of growth following a threat from Facebook that their page would be shut down, the Chicks on the Right were offered a Saturday afternoon radio show on Indianapolis’ 93 WIBC FM station.[3] A few months later, they auditioned for and “won” the afternoon drive-time weekday timeslot, which led them to leave the corporate world and become Chicks on the Right full-time. A few months later, they landed a book deal, and in October 2014, Right for a Reason: Life, Liberty, and a Crapload of Common Sense was released.[4] They also spent a few years writing op-eds periodically for the Indianapolis Star.[5]

In 2015, the Chicks added additional writers to their team, and in 2017, they rebranded their website masthead to include the “Chicklets” in their website photo.

After two years of drive time broadcasting, the Chicks requested a time-switch to spend more time with their respective families, and moved to their current 9-11am weekday slot.

Politics and appearances

The Chicks continue to write content for their website, do local and national speaking events, and have appeared as guests on such TV programs as Fox & Friends,[6] Fox’s Happening Now ,[7] Fox's America's News Headquarters,[8] Varney & Company ,[9] CNN Tonight ,[10] CNN Newsroom ,[11] Anderson Cooper 360° ,[12] NRATV ,[13] Newsmax ,[14] MRCTV ,[15] and also appeared as guests on various syndicated radio programs. Time Magazine also published a piece from the Chicks on the Right.[16]
