Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (McLennan)

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist [1] Also Saint-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste) It is the name that receives a religious building affiliated with the Catholic church that is located in the town of McLennan[2] in the north of the province of Alberta in western Canada[3].

The temple is the mother church of the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Grouard – McLennan (Latin: Archidioecesis Gruardensis – McLennanpolitana) which was created in 1862 as an apostolic vicariate and was elevated to an archdiocese in 1967 by the bull "Adsiduo perducti" of Pope Paul VI.

The current building traces its history to 1928, being built as a cathedral between 1946 and 1947 year in which it obtained the current status.

Its current administrator is Archbishop Gérard Pettipas.
