Campo's

Campo's Deli, also known as Campo's Philly Cheesesteaks, is a deli that was founded in 1947 on Market St in Old City, Philadelphia. There is a second location which opened in 2009 at Citizens Bank Park which replaced Rick's Steaks and a third location at Wells Fargo Center. The restaurant has been highly ranked for its cheesesteaks and other deli sandwiches.[1]

Cheesesteak from Campo's with onions and Whiz

Ambrose and Rose Campo opened Campo's in 1947. The next generation of the family took over the restaurant in 1975 the current owner is Michael Campo. Jay Polinsky of Broad Street Hockey voted Campo's the 15th best cheesesteak in Philadelphia.[2] MenAPN rankes Campo's Deli is one of the top 20 cheesesteak joints in Philadelphia.[3] Alex Deleny of bon appeitt and 16 cheesesteaks in 12 hours and gave an honorable mention to Campo's.[4] Campo remains a family owned business.[5]

Besides cheesesteaks, Campo's is also known for its Italian hoagie which uses three kinds of meat including prosciutto, pepperoni, and provolone.[6] Campo's also offers a vegan cheesesteak.[7] Another popular item Campo's offers is "The Heater", a cheesesteaks with hot peppers.[8]
