Plot

The short starts off with Daffy humming while walking on a sidewalk, then he stops and sees an already chewed piece of bubble gum. He says "Ooo, street gum, my favorite fruit!", and then licks the gum of the sidewalk and chews it while continuing to walk. He loses interest in the gum since it lost its taste, so he throws it back on the sidewalk. His foot gets stuck on the gum, which results in him crashing himself in a brick wall and getting stuck in a "sticky situation". Daffy tries to get out of it but ends up getting the gum stuck to his wings. Little tiny green Daffys try to cause pain to Daffy but he ends up noticing and tells them to scram, which they do. He gets off the ground and goes around three trees, only to no avail. The gum gets stuck on his feathers, and he rips the gum off, revealing his bare skin. Daffy, noticing he's free, hops around in excitement, only to trip on the sidewalk and get stuck again. He has no other choice but to zip off his skin and walk around while he's a skeleton. He walks off screen and turns back to normal, says the same quote from the beginning, and licks the gum off the sidewalk again, winking at the end.

Cast

Production

It was animated in Toon Boom Harmony.[1]

Release

It was released on Facebook and YouTube on May 23[2][3], it was later released on May 27 on HBO Max, alongside Boo! AppeTweet and Plunger.

Reception

Dave Trumbore of Collider gave the short, along with the whole series, an "A-", because it doesn't have anything new like social issues and he thinks the series is alright.[4] Rachel Wagner of Rotoscopers says, "Indeed, I smiled watching the action like I haven’t done in weeks. I love the way the animation forgoes the laws of physics in order to get a laugh. For example, in one short called Bubble Dum Daffy starts by eating a piece of gum from the ground. He then puts the gum back on the ground and it proceeds to morph and change sizes until it is wrapping around trees, all the while taking Daffy along with it. Hilarious."[5]
