Blackpool North Carriage Maintenance Depot

Blackpool North Light Maintenance Depot is a traction maintenance depot located in Blackpool, Lancashire, England. The depot is situated on the northern side of the Blackpool branch line from Preston and is to the east of Blackpool North station.[2] The depot code is BP.[1] The depot was electrified in 2018 following the Preston to Blackpool North electrification project. [3]

History

In 1987, the depot had no allocation but was used for stabling DMUs and Classes 08 and 47 locomotives.[2]

Present

As of 2016, there is no allocation. It is, instead, a stabling and light maintenance point for Class 142 Pacers,[4] Class 150/1, 150/2 and Class 156 Sprinters,[5] Class 158 Express Sprinters[6] and Class 185 Desiros owned by TransPennine Express and on lease to Northern.[7]
