History

In 1953 Giuseppe Polara founded the company and produced the first soft drinks. Today, the Modicana company has expanded its distribution throughout Sicily and also outside the region.[1][2]

Production

At the Modica factory, Polara produces various beverages for both large-scale distribution and horeca. There's also a vintage line from the 1950s, with different bottles and recipes from the classics, and a Bio line born in 2019.[3] The production of citrus drinks is carried out with Sicilians, such as Sicilian red oranges IGP, lemons from Syracuse IGP, blond oranges from Ribera PDO, with water of Hyblaean Mountains.[4]

Product line

Polara's drinks are: orange juice, lemonade, grapefruit, chinotto, soft drinks, tonic water, ginger, bitter, foam, tea and cola.[5]

Awards

  • "Taste of the year 2014" award.[6]
  • "Italianfood.net Award 2019", Cologne (Germany).[7][8]
