Benjamin J. Beaton

Benjamin J. Beaton is an American lawyer who is a nominee to be a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.[1]

Education

Beaton is a 1999 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School.[2] He earned his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Centre College and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Columbia Law School.[1]

Upon graduating law school, Beaton served as a law clerk to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the United States Supreme Court and to Judge A. Raymond Randolph of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Beaton is currently a Partner at Squire Patton Boggs, where he co-chairs the firm’s Appellate & Supreme Court practice group. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, where he teaches constitutional interpretation.[1]

Nomination to district court

On August 12, 2020, President Trump announced his intent to nominate Beaton to serve as a United States District Judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.[1]
