Ashraf Sinclair

Ashraf Daniel Mohamad Sinclair (18 September 1979 – 18 February 2020) was a Malaysian actor known for his role as Eddy in the 2005 film Gol & Gincu.[1] He was born to an English father and a Malaysian mother.

Career

Ashraf Sinclair rose to fame when he became a second runner-up of Hero Remaja in 1997 when he was 18.

He then starred in a Petronas commercial, entitled Kasut Gombak in 1998, which is also starring Vanidah Imran.[2] He was also known for being a host of Box Office Now that was once aired on ntv7. Aside from the movie Gol & Gincu, he also acted in Gol & Gincu The Series as well as Realiti which were aired on 8TV.

Ashraf Sinclair and his sister along with one of his best friends, Sazzy Falak, set up an entertainment company named SinclairFalak Sdn Bhd.

In 2017, Sinclair became a venture partner of 500 Startups, a global venture capital seed funder. It has to date helped fund more than 200 companies in Indonesia.[3]

Personal life

Sinclair was an eldest from three siblings, he had a sister, Aishah, and a younger brother, Adam.[4]

Sinclair married Indonesian singer Bunga Citra Lestari on 8 November 2008. The couple met when he was hosting Beat TV and Bunga Citra Lestari was promoting her album in Malaysia back in April 2007. Ashraf resided in Indonesia after his marriage.[5] The couple had a son, Noah Aidan Sinclair, born in September 22, 2010.[6]

Death

On 18 February 2020, Ashraf Sinclair died of a heart attack at Metropolitan Medical Centre in Jakarta.[7] On the same day, his remains were buried in San Diego Hills, West Java, after Asar prayers.[8]
