Arushi Nishank Pant

Arushi Nishank Pant (née Pokhriyal; born 17 September 1986) is an Indian classical dancer. She produced a regional movie, "Major Nirala", based on a novel written by her father Ramesh Pokhriyal and has shown an interest in environmental and social issues.[1][2][3]

Career

Arushi has choreographed dance performances such as "Ganga Avataran", a story of Goddess Ganga coming to earth.[4] She received the Pride Of Uttarakhand Award in 2017.[5] In 2018, Nishank produced a regional movie, "Major Nirala", based on a novel written by her father Ramesh Pokhriyal.[6] She has a postgraduate diploma in management from Cambridge Assessment International Education. She is also the chairperson of Himalayan Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.[3]

Social causes

Arushi is a promoter of the Sparsh Ganga Campaign, started in 2009 by her father Ramesh Pokhriyal to promote environmental awareness about the Ganga River.[7][8] She also chaired the International Women Empowerment Program in 2019 in New Delhi and in 2018 in Dubai.[9]

Personal life

Arushi is the eldest daughter of Kusum Kanta Pokhriyal and Ramesh Pokhriyal, who was appointed as India's Cabinet Union Minister of Human Resource Development in 2019 and formerly served as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.[10][11] She married Abhinav Pant on 24 January 2015.[12]
