Ari Banias

Ari Banias is an American poet.

Personal life

Banias was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Chicago.[1] He currently lives in Berkeley, CA.[2]

Career

Banias received a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and his MFA in poetry from Hunter College.

He published his first book of poetry, Anybody, in 2016.[3] Anybody was nominated for the PEN American Literary Award.[4] Banias's work has been featured in Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics,[5] American Poetry Review,[6] Boston Review,[7] and POETRY.[8]

Banias has received the fellowships from The Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, and Stanford University.
