Apurva Purohit

Apurva Purohit (born 3 October 1966) is an Indian Businesswoman. She is the President of Jagran Prakashan Ltd. The Jagran Prakashan Ltd owns publications like Dainik Jagran, Mid Day, Inext, and Inquilab along with India's first private FM radio station Radio City (Indian radio station).[2]

She is the author of the national bestselling book Lady, You’re not a Man – the Adventures of a Woman at Work published in 2013 by Rupa Publications. She has been ranked as one of the Most Powerful Women in Business as per the India Today Group for 2016 & 2018[3][4][5] and Fortune India in the year 2018.[6]

Career

Apurva is credited with the listing of Radio City (Indian radio station) on the stock exchange in 2017. During her stint as the CEO of Radio City, the organization was ranked among the Top 20 places to work according to the Great Place to Work Survey, 2015.[7] In the past, Apurva was associated with BCCL & Zee Telefilms, where she was a part of the successful launch of TV brands like Zoom and engineered the re-launch strategy for Zee TV. She also launched one of the largest media buying agencies in the country, Lodestar.[8]

Apurva Purohit is an Independent Director on the boards of Mindtree[9][10] She is also on the board of Midday Infomedia limited and Music Broadcast Limited.[11]

Personal life

Apurva is married to Sanjay Purohit and has a son. She lives in Mumbai. She is an avid sports follower and represented Tamil Nadu in hockey in 1984–1987.[18]
