American Midwest Ballet

American Midwest Ballet, formerly named Ballet Nebraska, is a dance company based in Council Bluffs, IA, serving the local community. The company's season typically consists of three productions including The Nutcracker, a story ballet, and usually some mixed repertory work.

In 2018, Ballet Nebraska changed its name to American Midwest Ballet. The American Midwest Ballet School began operations in 2019 after originally collaborating with the company in previous seasons as a private youth dance studio, which also served as a rented space for rehearsals and was co-owned by the ballet master.

The Nutcracker is performed each year with local students in many roles.

Company repertoire includes works of guest choreographers Paul Boos,[1] Peter Anastos, Nilas Martins, Harrison McEldowney, Mariana Olivera, Jeff Satinoff, Edward Truitt, Frank Chaves, Tatiana Bechenova, and Ann Reinking.

Other works: Swing, Swing, Swing!, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Dracula, Alice In Wonderland, Snow White, and The Wizard of Oz.
