Alexis Martin Woodall

Alexis Martin Woodall (born 1980) is an American executive producer. She is the president of Ryan Murphy Productions and received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series for American Horror Story: Asylum and American Horror Story: Coven. She also earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film in 2017 for The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

Early life and education

Woodall was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado and graduated from Cherry Creek High School.[1] She attended University of Colorado Boulder for her Bachelor of Arts in film studies and Bachelor of Fine Arts in film production.[2]

Career

After graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder, Woodall was hired as a production assistant at Ryan Murphy's show Nip/Tuck, who later promoted her to producer.[3] After Nip/Tuck concluded, Woodall stayed with Murphy as a producer on his newly created television shows Glee, American Horror Story: Asylum, American Horror Story: Hotel and American Horror Story: Coven. The American Horror Story series' she produced earned her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.[4][5] By 2016, she was producing The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, which earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film.[6]

In 2017, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award as a member of the producing teams on Murphy's Feud: Bette and Joan.[7] The following year, Feud also earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film nomination.[5] Woodall was eventually chosen by Murphy to become president of Ryan Murphy Productions[3] and work as an executive producer on his Netflix television series Hollywood.[8]

Personal life

Woodall and her husband Dave run a restaurant in Los Angeles called Red Herring.[9][10] She also plays the keyboard, tambourine, and sings back-up vocals in an indie band called Kissing Cousins.[11]
