Ajit Anjum

Ajit Anjum is a senior journalist and writer. He has worked as managing editor at News 24 and India TV news channels.[1] [2] He has been awarded Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards in the year 2010. For a brief period of time he worked as consulting editor at TV9 Bharatvarsh.[3][4][5]

Early life

Ajit Anjum was born in Begusarai district of Bihar. He got his early education at Begusarai and Darbhanga. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Langat Singh College, Muzaffarpur, affiliated to Bihar University. His father Ramsagar Prasad Singh was in Bihar Judicial Services who got his retirement, serving as District and session judge at Patna.[6] Ajit started his career as journalist while pursuing his studies at Muzaffarpur. He changed his name from Ajit Kumar to Ajit Anjum while working as local reporter at 'Patliputra Times'. Working as freelance journalist at Patna he started writing for Dharmyug, Saptahik Hindustaan, Dinmaan and Ravivar. Pursuing his career as journalist he came to Delhi in 1989 and started working at Amar Ujala.[7]

Career

In 1994 Ajit joined BAG films as director of a talk show 'Rubaru' anchored by journalist Rajeev Shukla. He produced many popular shows for BAG films where he worked for fifteen years. Ajit worked at Aaj Tak as senior producer. However he rejoined BAG films and launched News 24 in the year 2007. Ajit left News 24 in 2014 and joined India TV as its managing editor. It was Ajit Anjum who conceptualize the shows like Red Alert, Sansani and Pol Khol for Star News.[8] Ajit was awarded prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award for his reporting during ravaging flood in Bihar in 2010. Ajit steered a campaign 'Rahat lekar Bihar Chalo' on News 24 which resulted in hundred truckloads of relief materials reaching to the victims. Considering his contributions Fem magazine mentioned him in 50 most powerful people of Bihar in its survey conducted in 2016.[9][10]
