Ahmad Hassan Polytechnic Institute

Ahmad Hassan Polytechnic Institute, a school for electricians, was founded in 1918 by the late Syed Ahmad Hassan Naqvi in Ludhiana, India. After partition of the sub continent in 1947, it was shifted to its current premises at Lahore.

It was run by Syed Ahmad Hassan Naqvi until his death in 1965. Ahmad Hassan had four sons, Saeed Hassan, Rasheed Hassan, Majid Hassan and Khurshid Hassan. Saeed Hassan was already heading two branches of an Institute in Lahore: 1- Technical Institute YMCA and Technical Institute Bhalla Stop. Rashid Hassan was the Chief Engineer of Pakistan International Airlines at Karachi. Two of his four sons started running the School for Electricians; but due to the difference of opinion in its administrative matters, Majid Hassan decided to leave the School for Electricians to Khurshid Hassan in 1974 and was appointed as a lecturer at the Zambia Institute of Technology, Kitwe, Zambia.

Currently, the Principal of AHPI is Syed Mushir Hassan Naqvi.
