Adrian Z. Diaz

Adrian Z. Diaz is an American law enforcement officer who was selected to serve as Interim Chief of the Seattle Police Department after the resignation of Carmen Best. Diaz had previously served as deputy chief of the department. Diaz is set to assume office on September 2, 2020.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Diaz earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from Central Washington University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington.[5]

Career

Diaz previously worked as a bike patrolman and undercover officer in the Seattle Police Department. He works as a Master Defensive Tactics instructor at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.[6] After Diaz was named interim chief, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan stated that she would not name a permanent chief in 2020.[7][8]
