Tim Hill (born July 4, 1984), known professionally by 2oolman, is a Mohawk Canadian record producer and DJ from Six Nations Of The Grand River.[1] He has won numerous awards for his work as a member of A Tribe Called Red.

Music career

Hill debuted his career by producing for local acts in Toronto, ON area before participating in Red Bull’s Big Tune beat-making battles in Detroit, MI[2] and SXSW.[3] He achieved early success through producing notable figures in hip-hop such as The Game, Shad and SonReal before receiving attention and support of OVO Sound producer, Boi-1da.[4]

In 2014, Hill joined A Tribe Called Red after the departure of original member, DJ Shub. After joining the group, 2oolman was heavily included in the creation of their, Juno Award winning and Polaris Prize nominated album, “We Are The Halluci Nation”.[5]

In 2019 Hill Co-Executive produced Haviah Mighty’s album 13th Floor.[6]

Musical style

Hill’s musical style can be categorized as hip-hop and dance music.[7] With influences from his Indigenous heritage, Hill's dance music can be categorized in the powwow-step genre which has been described as “dancehall or dubstep with a pulsing combination of spoken word and traditional tribal sounds”.[8]
