Turaŭ
Turaŭ or Turov is a small town in Gomel Oblast, Belarus. An important city of East Slavs during the Middle Ages, the centre of a vast duchy and the seat of influential bishops, it underwent a series of misfortunes including the earthquake of 1230 shortly followed by an enemy invasion, and never regained its old importance. Excavations in the XX century uncovered some ruins well worth visiting for a lover of history.
