Trujillo and Extremadura are home to wonderful foods and delicacies. Iberico ham, for example, is a delicious and delicate ham made by feeding black iberian pigs on acorns.
- National Spanish Cheese Festival, Trujillo, Main Square. late April/early May. The largest cheese fair in the world. The Plaza Mayor is filled with hundreds of stands, displaying local and national cheeses. Many local cheese makers and farmers, who use milk from their goats or sheep, have developed and mature their own cheeses. There are also wine and beer stalls. The extremeño cheeses, such as Torta del Casar, Torta de la Serena and Los Ibores goat's cheese, are particularly good.
