Tibau

Tibau is a beach town in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil, on the border with the state of Ceará. It is the main resort for the people of Mossoró, who head out to the beaches both to the east and west during most weekends. In January it's packed with local holidaymakers.

Get in

  • Two daily buses to/from Fortaleza, passing by Aracati (2 hours) and most others towns along the road, by São Benedito tel +55 85 3444 9999. 4,5 - 5,5 hours, R$ 24.
  • Cabs leave for Mossoró as soon as they fill up, 30 minutes, R$ 7-10 per person.

Get around

If you stay near the center, it is all walkable. Both taxis and mototaxis available.

A couple of bars along Rua Tubarão. First Saturday of every month has a beach party just north of the center. Loads of cars on the beach, each with its stereo going.
