  • 🌍 Shipka Pass. Located 13 kilometres by road from Shipka, the Shipka Pass is a scenic mountain pass where a series of battles were fought between the Bulgarians aided by Russian volunteers and the Ottoman Empire in the Russo-Turkish War during the 1870s. There is a monument located some steps high from the road and dedicates the memory to those who died during the liberation of Bulgaria.
  • 🌍 Shipka Memorial Church (Memorial Temple of the Birth of Christ). A temple built from 1885 to 1902 in Muscovite style. Commemorates the Russian, Bulgarian and Ukrainian soldiers who died for the liberation of Bulgaria. Its church bell reaches a height of 53 metres, heavily weighing 12 tons of cartridges that were casted after the battles. Inside the temple are names of Russian regiments and Bulgarian volunteers inscribed on 34 marble plates.
