₭ Rockland County is a county of New York state in the Metro New York region. It lies to the immediate north of Bergen County, New Jersey.

By air
- Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey, John F. Kennedy International Airport, and LaGuardia Airport: The three major international airports in the New York City area offer service to just about anywhere. Rockland-based taxi and livery cars offer regular service to and from the three internationals from most areas of the county. New York City yellow cabs will take you to Rockland in a pinch, but the fares can be exorbitant. Ask if your hotel offers shuttle service.
- Westchester County Airport, 240 Airport Road, White Plains, +1 914 995-4860 (airlines). If you are trying to dodge the congestion of the three New York City/New Jersey international airports, Westchester's airport offers an alternative.
- Stewart International Airport, 1180 First St, New Windsor, +1 845 564-2100. Another alternative to the congestion of the 3 major airports, but at present offers few direct flights.
By train
- Metro North Rail Road's Hudson Line from New York City's Grand Central Terminal to Tarrytown. Use Transport of Rockland's Tappan Zeexpress bus or local taxis to cross the Hudson River to Rockland.
- Metro North Rail Road's Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines provide service from New York City and northern New Jersey. Take New Jersey Transit from New York Penn Station to Secaucus, transfer to Metro North Rail Road. Pascack serves Nanuet, Pearl River, and Spring Valley. Port Jervis makes stops at Suffern and Sloatsburg.
Get around
Easily accessible from the NY Thruway (Interstates 87/287) as well as the Garden State Parkway and the I-86 corridor (still NY 17 in this area).
NY 303, NY 304, US 9W, NY 59, NY 45, and the Palisades Parkway offer access to many area attractions.

- Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site. Park Road off Rte. 9W, Stony Point, +1 845 786-2521. In July 1779 American General "Mad" Anthony Wayne took these fortifications from the British in a daring midnight raid. The oldest remaining lighthouse on the Hudson River is on the point.
- Hopper House Art Center, ☎ +1 845 358-0774. 82 N Broadway, Nyack. The birthplace and boyhood home of painter Edward Hopper. Gallery hours Thu, F, Sa, Su, 1-5PM. Closed M-W.
- Haverstraw Brick Museum, 12 Main St, ☎ +1 845 947-3505. Haverstraw. The Hudson River Valley was once known as the brickmaking capital of the world. At its peak, it supplied New York City's rapid urbanization in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Three hundred years of brick production ended in the early 21st century with the closing of the last active brickyard. The museum chronicles brickmaking in Haverstraw, one of the more prolific centers of the industry in the valley. Hours: W Sa and Su 1PM-4PM and by appointment.
- Visit Piermont, New York. This small town is one of the richest areas in Rockland County. Filled with gorgeous homes overlooking the Hudson river, it is quite the sight to see. Some of the best restaurants are in the area; most have decks on the river. There is also live music playing often at most of these restaurants. Definitely a classy place to go for good food, good music, and great views!
Do
- Visit a farmer's market. Find markets in places like Piermont , and Spring Valley .
- Visit the Palisades Mall, 1000 Palisades Center Dr., West Nyack, NY. This four-floor mall is more than adequate for anyone's needs; in terms of entertainment, shopping, dining, and amusement activities. This mall appears very overwhelming upon entrance, but it is quite easy to get around. There are various directories in the mall. It is four straight floors with no intersections. You can literally walk from one side to the other, take the escalator up and walk from one side to the other on that floor. Some restaurants include the Cheesecake Factory, Fire and Ice, Chili's Bar and Grill. Stores vary from women's and men's fashion to footwear to antique sculptures. There are home good stores, ice cream shops, and sports wear. In terms of amusement activities, there is a public ice rink, a ferris wheel, and merry-go-round. There is a huge movie theatre, with approximately 24-30 movie theaters within. These are only a few of the amenities that the Palisades Mall offers!
- Visit Downtown Nyack on Main Street, Nyack (New York). This strip is in a gorgeous area overlooking the Hudson River and Tappan Zee Bridge. Every year, three different street fairs are conducted; booths are set up along main street, and some of the connecting side streets, selling jewelry, clothing, handbags, artwork, sculptures, and more. When these street fairs are not occurring, you can shop, eat, and drink. Shopping extends from clothing to nutrition food stores to art collections. The themes of the various restaurants range from American style to Cajun style to Mexican style. Pasta Amore, Bourbon Street, and Black Bear Saloon are all excellent restaurants, directly on Main St. Nightlife on this street is always fun, no matter what night of the week! The restaurants turn into bars (21 and older) around 10PM stay open until 4AM.

- True Food, 166 Main Street, Nyack, ☎ +1 845 480-5710. 8AM-8PM. An all organic restaurant. Known for fresh food made by owner Pamela Schulz, True food offers breakfast lunch and dinner in a casual dining setting. Fresh salads, burritos and hot entrees. $$.

- Sidewalk Bistro, 482 Piermont Avenue, ☎ +1 845 680-6460. Very fine French bistro fare.
- Bourbon St. Cafe, 132 Main, St., Nyack, ☎ +1 845 727-3116. Very fun restaurant and bar at night. Cajun style food with a full bar. Bourbon St. is excellent for a fun time at night. The age range is usually people in their twenties.
- Publik House, 30 W. Ramapo Rd. Garnerville, ☎ +1 845 429-3092. Very affordable restaurant and bar. Publik house is fairly large with a full bar. Various sports games are played on their televisions; Publik House is a relaxing bar that stays open until 3 or 4AM.
