Pontrhydfendigaid is perhaps best known as the nearest place to Strata Florida Abbey, a 12th-century Cistercian foundation. The abbey today consists mainly of ruins, with a fine Romanesque entrance paramount. However it is very important to Welsh history as the burial place of several princes.
