Pavones
Understand
Pavones and its sister town of Punta Banco are remote surf towns located on the southern most tip of Costa Rica's Pacific Coast. Pavones is known for its big, heavy waves at its famous point break, however there are a couple of beach breaks with smaller waves for beginners.
Get in
By plane
There is a small airport with flights leaving from San José.
By bus
There are buses that leaving from the border town of Paso Canoas that go to Pavones and Punta Banco daily.
By car
The road in to Pavones is a long and bumpy gravel road that can get quite muddy during wet season. In good conditions a car is fine for the trip however heavy rain may make it difficult without an off road vehicle, ask locals at Paso Canoas about conditions of the road if unsure.
